Craemer Attendorn Opts for
Arisa 800-Ton Servo Press
By investing in its machinery, the Craemer Group (metal forming, plastics processing, tool making) is meeting the market challenges of the future. A new Nidec Arisa 800-ton servo press with a High Dynamic transfer system increases capacity at the Attendorn, Germany site. In the metal forming business field, the Craemer Group develops, designs and manufactures precision stamped and formed components. With its large-scale production of metal components, it is one of the leading international suppliers to various industries, including the automotive, fittings, large domestic appliance and heater industries. The Spanish Nidec Arisa Group is the new partner for presses – thanks to its high flexibility and technical standards.
The Attendorn site, which has been a supplier to the international automotive industry for decades, has been part of the Craemer Group as a metalworking subsidiary since 2015. Production at the Attendorn site focuses mainly on precision-stamped parts for automobiles, such as belt system components, fittings and connecting elements for seat structures. The products, which weigh between 10 and 500 grams, are now supplied to automotive suppliers as well as manufacturers of white goods, fittings and other industries in Europe, Asia and South America.
For the past two years, the Arisa S-2-800-400-180-SP servo press, with a press force of 8,000 kilonewtons (kN, equivalent to 800 tons) and a table length of four metres, has been expanding capacity in the upper press force range.
“Materials are becoming stronger and stronger,” explains Thomas Burholt, Managing Director of Craemer Attendorn GmbH & Co. KG, “so a higher press force is needed to transform the metal parts.” The machinery currently comprises seven modern presses with forces of between 315 and 800 ton, with table lengths of 2.5 to 4 meters, for processing steel or non-ferrous metal sheets up to five millimeters thick.
Thomas Burholt also highlights the services offered: “To achieve compatibility with our existing machinery, Arisa also adapted the standard press to our needs, including the coil infeed for transfer, table size and installation height.” The 800-ton press has also proved its worth because the peripherals are fully integrated into the control system. “This simplifies operation and processing, as everything runs together in one place,” says the Attendorn managing director. “Accordingly, the employees have been thoroughly trained in an Arisa workshop to be able to use the press in the best possible way,” he adds. Other advantages include Arisa’s global customer service network and the fact that “many standard press components are easily available”.
